This fall, I’m starting a new chapter in my career. Let’s call it “The Forty-Something First-Year High School Teacher.”

I’m almost finished with my teacher certification course work as well as field observations, and I just passed the ELAR 7-12 content test. I’ve had my first interview and received a tentative offer; I have another lined up in a couple weeks. Things are going well, I’m already looking forward to meeting students that I get to work with all year long as well as creating an amazing classroom library and overall learning experience for them!

Recently, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers asked me to review some of their upcoming titles, I said “sure,” and mentioned that I’d be teaching high school soon. Look at all the amazing books they sent to me! I am so very grateful.

I’m thinking about developing a reading and writing project that involves blogging, book reviews, and fan fiction… This is going to be so much fun!
